Getting Started

Visit the Small Business Resource Center at Meadowdale Library, 4301 Meadowdale Boulevard. The center is a comfortable space where you can work, have meetings and training sessions, or even network. The space provides you with equipment that makes it easier to manage your small business. It includes computers with specialized business software, a scanner, a heavy-duty paper punch, a paper cutter, and more. Also on the center's computers you will find Economic Development’s webportal MyBusinessStartsHere, a one-stop shop for starting a business in Chesterfield County. If you aren't sure where to start in creating a small business, this portal will walk you through the process. You also have experts on-hand to answer your questions, sign you up for a class, or refer you to the Economic Development office.

Already have a small business? Looking to refine your skills, acquire more funding, or add another location? The library offers regular programming and training in partnership with local agencies like SCORE and SBA. Past workshops have included:

While in the library, you can use your library card to access online databases including: ReferenceUSA, Morningstar, ValueLine, General Business File ASAP and Business Economics and Theory. Librarians are on-hand to help you access and understand these resources. You can even book a Your Personal Librarian session and one of our experts will work one-on-one with you for up to 30 minutes, at your convenience.
