An Evening with Erica Armstrong Dunbar

Saturday, Jan. 27, 7-8 p.m.
Meadowdale Library

Dr. Erica Armstrong Dunbar is the author of Never Caught: The Washingtons’ Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge. Dr. Dunbar presents a startling and eye-opening look into America’s First Family, and the powerful narrative of Ona Judge, George and Martha Washington’s runaway slave who risked it all to escape the nation’s capital and reach freedom. Never Caught, as of this writing, is a National Book Award shortlist finalist in the category of non-fiction. Dr. Dunbar is a professor of Black American Studies and History at the University of Delaware and is the inaugural director of the Program in African American History at the Library Company of Philadelphia. A book sale and signing will take place after the event.

Registration is required and begins Dec. 30.

Angie Thomas is the author of The Hate You Give. She holds a BFA in Creative Writing from Belhaven University. The Hate You Give is on the 2017 National Book Award longlist for the category of Young People’s Literature and a 2017 Kirkus Prize Finalist.
