(between O. B. Gates Elementary School and Bird High School)

Hands-on fun for all ages!

Meet all kinds of "makers" - artists, engineers, woodworkers, librarians and more - and find out what they do. See demonstrations and try things out yourself with hands-on activities and projects to take home. This family-friendly festival will feature:

  • Legos
  • 3D Printing
  • Robotics and saltwater etching by FTC 7278 Library BotsMaker Expo logo 
  • Handmade pottery
  • Card making and paper crafting 
  • Jewelry design using binary code with CodeVA 
  • Wood carving by James River Woodcarvers 
  • Lathe pen making with Towers Woodcraft 
  • Quilt making
  • Cross stitching with Virginia Guild of Needlewomen 
  • Create your own zine by Such Things We Have Zine 
  • Live wand-making by Hogwarts Handcrafted 
  • Plants and flowers created from recycled sweaters by Dahlia’s 
  • Weave your own bookmark with the James River Weavers 
  • Handmade postcards with Handmade by Kate 
  • Animal sculptures by Karselis Arts 
  • Arts and Crafts with Promise Ministry Center 
  • Grilled Meats and Treats

What is a "Maker"?

Anyone who makes something! A maker builds furniture, or engineers robots, or weaves cloth. A "maker" might make books, computer games, or chocolates. Have you ever made a necklace or built a model spaceship? Then you’re a maker too!
