Public libraries are essential providers of eGovernment services and resources. In areas hit by natural disasters, they are on the front line assisting users in filing government claims. More people than ever are using free public library computers to file for benefits, use library resources to access information about jobs and complete online employment applications. Many of these users are unfamiliar with computers and online resources. Government agencies refer individuals specifically to their local public libraries for help.
