1. I checked an activity by mistake, how do I uncheck it?

Once checked, an activity can only be unchecked by staff.  Email your request to [email protected]  Please include the reader’s name and the activity that you would like removed.

2. Why is summer learning important?

In order to be ready for each school year, children need to keep learning during the summer. Students who don’t practice what they’ve learned can actually forget their learning from the previous school year. Parents can help kids practice their school skills through activities like:

• Cooking and measuring
• Exploring the outdoors
• Planning family trips
• Reading for fun

3. Do I need a CCPL library card to participate?

No! You do not need a library card to sign up for the Summer Learning Program or to attend any library programs. However, a library card allows you to borrow books, movies and more and you can use it to download or stream things online.

4. Who can participate in the Summer Learning Program?

The Summer Learning Program is open to readers of all ages! There are four separate age groups for the program: Pre-K, K-5, Teens, and Adults.

5. How do I sign up for the Summer Learning Program?

Use CCPL’s Beanstack website or the Beanstack app to sign up for the Summer Learning Program and log your progress. (While the logging may be done online, the majority of the activities are done off-screen.) 

Visit chesterfield.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack Tracker app from iOS App or Google Play stores.

Using Beanstack:

• Select Find a Site
• Select Chesterfield County Public Library
• Create an account (choose Register an Individual or Family). If you’re certain you’ve never used Beanstack before, select No to the question about whether you’ve used Beanstack before. If you’re not sure, call us at 804-751-CCPL (2275) or stop into any library and we can check for you.
• Select how you would like to register (We do have a Summer Learning Program for adults that includes chances to win prizes, so be sure to register yourself as well as any family members). 
• If registering multiple family members, register yourself first. Then click on the settings icon, click on Readers and then Add a Reader. Each family member will be able to join challenges tailored to their age.

6. Can I count audiobooks?

You bet! We have books on CD at all of our locations. We also have a large selection of digital audiobooks available on Libby.

7. Can I count books that I read on my computer or e-reader?

Of course! Don’t forget that we have a wide selection of eBooks available on Libby by OverDrive.

8. When will drawings take place?

Drawings will take place the week of Aug. 8.

9. When will winners be announced for the drawings?

Winners will be contacted the week of Aug. 8.

10. How do I get my prizes?

Pre-K and K-5 participants can visit any CCPL location to pick up a sticker sheet (registration) and treasure box (completion). 

If you win one of the drawings, you will be asked to designate which library you will go to for your prize.  Prizes will be available at the end-of-summer celebration.

11. I signed up on Beanstack last year, can I use the same account?

Yes, your Beanstack account is still active, but you will need to register for this year’s summer learning program.   

12. How do I reset my Beanstack password?

To reset your Beanstack password click https://chesterfield.beanstack.com/users/password/new. If you do not have an email attached to your account, call us at 804-751-2275 (CCPL) or stop into any library and we can help you.

13. Can I add multiple readers to my Beanstack account?

Yes!  If you are signing up for the first time, Beanstack will ask if you would like to add another reader. If you already have an account and would like to add a reader, under the Settings tab click on Add a Reader. If you need help adding readers, call us at 804-751-2275 (CCPL) or stop into any library and we can help you.

14. How do I log my reading and activities?

Log in to Beanstack.

Click on the green “Log Reading and Activities” button found on the top left-hand side of the page.

Or click badges and select which badge you want to work on. 

15. Can I see a list of activities before I sign up?
